Hombuja (Shimoga District, Karnataka), February 10, 2019: Jain, Prakrit & Kannada scholar Sri B S Sannaiah has been chosen for the coveted “Siddhantha Keerthi Award”. He has been chosen for this award for his contribution to Jainism, Jain Philosophy & literature. ‘Siddhantha Keerthi Award’ has been constituted by Hombuja Jain Math and will be given to Jain scholars every year for the contribution to Jainism. Sri Sannaiah is a well know Jain scholar and has authored many books on Jainism and translated many Jain works from Prakrit to Kannada. He will be presented with the award at a religious gathering that will be held at Hombuja on 15th March 2020 on the occasion of the annual Rathayatra Mahotsava of Lord Parshwanath & Goddess Padmavati Yakshi.

Invitation of Hombuja Rathayatra Mahotsava - 2020

Hombuja (Shimoga District, Karnataka), February 1, 2020: The annual Rathayatra Mahotsava of Lord Parshwanatha and Goddess Padmavathi will be held with other programmes at Humcha from 13th to 18 th March 2020 under the guidance of His Holiness Paramapujya Jagadguru Swasti Sri Devendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji.

The detailed programme Schedule is as below:

  • 10th March 2020 – Ganadhara Valaya Aradhana at Sri Matada Basadi (Sri Neminath Swamy Basadi).
  • 11th March 2020 – Kalyana Mandira Aradhana at Sri Makkala Basadi (Sri Parshwanath Swamy Chikka Basadi).
  • 12th March 2020 – Bhaktamara Aradhana at Sri Bogara Basadi (Sri Mahavir Swamy Basadi).
  • 13th March 2020 – Indira Pratishte, Vimana Shuddhi, Yakshapratishte, Dhwajarohana, Mahanaivedya Pooja, Nandimangala, Vastu Shanthi, Mruttika Sangrahana, Nagavahoanotsava (from 8.00 pm onwards) and other rituals.
  • 14th March 2020 – Abhisheka to Lord Parshwanatha and Goddess Padmavathi, Kalikundala Yantra aradhana, Simhavahanotsava (8.00 pm onwards) and other rituals.
  • 15th March 2020 – Nityavidhi with Jala-agni homa, Shanthichakra Aradhana, Sribali, Bellirathotsava, Pushparathotsava (from 8.00 pm onwards).
  • 16th March 2020 – Moolanakshatra – Mahanaivedya Pooja along with Nityavidhi, Ratharohana, Maharathotsava (from 1.25 pm onwards).
  • 17th March 2020 – 108 Kalasha Abhisheka to Lord Parshwanatha along with Nityavidhi at Trikuta Jinalaya (Guddada Basadi, from 9 am onwards).
  • 18th March 2019 – Kunkuma Utsava & Dhwajarohana (flag hoisting).

Kundadri (Shivamogga District, Karnataka), 14th January 2020: The annual Jathra Mahotsava at Sri Kshetra Kundadri was held on 14th January 2019 under the holy presence of His Holiness SwastiSri Dr. Deevendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Hombuja Jain Math. The celebrations started with Pamchamrutha-abhisheka to Lord Sri Parshwanath Tirthankar idol, & Panchamrutha pooja to the feet impressions (Pada) of Acharya 108 Sri Kundakundacharya and was followed by a religious gathering. His Holiness SwastiSri Dr. Deevendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji delivered the religious discourse.

Hombuja, 26 November 2019: The Karthikamasa Laksha Deepotsava of Guddada Basadi at Hombuja was held at Sri Kshetra Hombuja. It was held in the presence of His Holiness Jagadguru SwastiSri Dr. Deevendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Hombuja Jain Math.

Hombuja, 26 November 2019: The Yakshagana performance of Padmavati Devi Mahatma – Jinadattaraya Charite was held at Sri Kshetra Hombuja. It was held in the presence of His Holiness Jagadguru SwastiSri Dr. Deevendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Hombuja Jain Math. His Holiness Swamiji released a book on the occasion.

Hattiangadi (Kundapura Taluk, Udupi District, Karnataka), 8th November 2019: The renovation of the ancient 1008 Sri Chandranath Swamy Digambar Jain Basadi, Hattiangadi, Kundapura Talukm Udupi District, Karnataka is in full swing under the guidance of His Holiness SwastiSri Dr. Deevendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji of Hombuja Jain Math.


Hattiangadi is an ancient Jain Heritage Centre with over 1,000 plus years of history known for its huge followership to Bhairava Kshetrapala Deva. Hattiangadi is a branch of Hombuja Jain Math.

Hombuja, 30th October 2019: During the period around Deepawali the new yield would have started growing up. Symbolically part of the paddy buds (Battada TeneKadaru – ಬತ್ತದ ತೆನೆಕದರು) of new yield is cut, brought in a Palanquin / Pallakki (ಪಲ್ಲಕ್ಕಿ) and offered to the God during this period before the yield is used for other purposes. This ritual called as “Battada TeneKadaru Taruvudu – ಬತ್ತದ ತೆನೆಕದರು ತರುವುದು’ was performed at Sri Kshetra Hombuja / Humcha under the guidance His Holiness SwastiSri Dr. Deveendrakeerthi Bhattarakha Swamiji.

Hombuja, 5th October 2019: The 33rd annual conference of Karnataka Itihasa Academy will be held from 18th to 20th October 2019. The conference being organized under the aegis of Hombuja Jain Math will be attended by over 300-350 delegates. The delegates will be presenting research publications related to Karnataka’s history, culture and inscriptions.

“Itihasa Darshana” a compilatory volume comprising of research articles presented during the previous annual conference will be released during this conference.

Dr T. V. Venkatachala Shastry will be presiding as the President of the 33rd annual conference to be held at Humcha, Hosanagara Taluk, Shivamogga, on 18th, 19th and 20th of October 2019.

Endowments Awardees

Dr. Vasundhara Filliozat, Mysuru is being conferred with ‘Itihasa Samskruthi Shree’ award established by B.R. R.  Family Charitable Trust for outstanding contribution to Karnataka Culture.

Dr. Nagaiah J. M, Dharawada is being conferred with ‘Ba. Ra. Gopal Shasana Prashasthi’, an endowment Award for outstanding contribution in the field of inscriptions for the year 2018-19.

Dr. Shilakantha Pattar, Badami is being conferred with ‘Samshodhana Shree’ award for outstanding research in the field of History. The award is established by Dr. M. G. Nagaraj, Smt Padma Virupakshaiah and Dr. M. G. Chandrakanth children of Smt. Gowramma and Shree. Gangadharaiah.

Dr. Virupakshi Pujarahalli, Hospete is being conferred with ‘Nayaka Shree’ award which is established in the name of Prof. Lakshman Telagavi.

Dr. Paramashivamurthy D.V.  Tumakuruis being conferred with ‘Nolamba Itihasa Prashasthi’ established by Melana Matada Late Sri V.S. Siddannaiah and Late Smt. Gangamma memorial Trust, Arsikere for outstanding contribution to the study of Nolamba dynasty.

Dr. Vasanthalakshmi K, Bengaluru is being conferred with ‘Dr. Shreenivasa Havanur Memorial Award’ established by Dr. C. R. Shyamala for outstanding contribution in the field of History.

Dr. Siddalingamma B. G. Ranebennur, is being conferred with ‘Sumangala Patil Prashasti’, established by B. C. Patil Trust, Koppala, for outstanding contribution by a woman scholar in Indic Studies .

Shri M. B. Patil is being conferred with ‘Surya Keerthi’ award established by family of Late Dr Suryanatha U. Kamath for outstanding contribution in the field of History.

Dr R. Mohana has been chosen for Dr. M. H. Krishna Merit Award for Best Paper in Archaeology presented at the 32nd Karnataka Itihasa Academy’s annual conference held at Badami. The award is established by Dr. Paddaiah K. Deccan College, Pune.

ಹೊಂಬುಜ, 5 ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 2019: ಶ್ರೀಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಹೊಂಬುಜದಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಇತಿಹಾಸ ಅಕಾಡೆಮಿಯ 33ನೇ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನವು ಅಕ್ಟೋಬರ್ 18 ರಿಂದ 20ರ ವರೆಗೆ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ. ಹೊಂಬುಜ ಜೈನಮಠದ ಆಶ್ರಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿರುವ ಈ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ರಾಜ್ಯಾದ್ಯಂತದಿಂದ ಸುಮಾರು 300-350 ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಭಾಗವಹಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರತಿನಿಧಿಗಳು ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಇತಿಹಾಸ, ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಶಾಸನಗಳಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಸಿದ ಸಂಶೋಧನಾ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳನ್ನು ಮಂಡಿಸಲಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಕಳೆದ ರಾಜ್ಯ ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಡಿಸಲಾದ ಪ್ರಬಂಧಗಳ ಸಂಕಲನ ”ಇತಿಹಾಸ ದರ್ಶನ” ಸಂಪುಟ 34ರ ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಈ ಸಂದರ್ಭದಲ್ಲಿ ನಡೆಯಲಿದೆ.

ಸಮ್ಮೇಳನಾಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಹಿರಿಯ ವಿದ್ವಾಂಸರಾದ ಪ್ರೊ.ಟಿ.ವಿ.ವೆಂಕಟಾಚಲ ಶಾಸ್ತ್ರಿಯವರು ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ.
