Malakheda (Sedam Taluk, Gulbarga District, Karnataka): The mangala pravesha of His Holiness Swasti Sri Deevendrakeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji the pontiff of Hombuja Jain Math to the historic town Malakheda was held recently. Malakheda once the capital of the Rashtrakutas witnessed the historic visit of swamiji when he visited the place for the first time after becoming the Bhattakrakha of Sri Kshetra Hombuja. Speaking about its religious importance he said that – Malakheda which was also called as ‘Manyakheta’ is a punya bhoomi (holy place), as it is at this place that great Jain acharyas like Jinasenacharya, Virasenacharya, Gunabadhracharya & others lived here and published many Jain works. He further mentioned that as this Kshetra comes under the perview of Hombuja Jain Math, the Math would take all steps towards its development and bringing back its glory. He conveyed his Bhakti Namana to Acharya 108 Sri Shrutasagarji Maharaj for his continued efforts towards the betterment of Malakheda.
Acharya 108 Sri Shrutasagarji Maharaj delivered his discourse. Special pooja and aradhanas were conducted at Sri Mallinatha Digambar Jain temple & Sri Mahavir Digambar Jain temple in Malakheda on the occasion.
Members of the Jain samaj’s from Gulbarga, Bidar, Raichur & Yadgir districts had collected in huge numbers to welcome His Holiness Swamiji.
